Программа

История возникновения дисциплины «проектирование пользовательского взаимодействия» (user experience design), как она вошла в сферу проектирования человеко-машинного взаимодействия, какие теоретические основы поддерживают ее, и как эта дисциплина применяется на практике.
Понятия «пригодность к использованию» (usability) и «полезность» (utility). Как получить оптимальные с точки зрения этих понятий продукты, применяя правильно построенный процесс проектирования.
Этапы процесса проектирования: исследование пользователей, проектирование, подготовка прототипов и оценка результатов. Методы, применяемые в процессе проектирования: опросы, подготовка макетов и прототипов различной степени детализации, экспертная оценка, оценка пригодности к использованию и так далее.

Сулеман Шахид (Suleman Shahid) обладает ученой степенью доктора философии (PhD) в области «Взаимодействие человек-система». Доцент Тилбургского университета (Нидерланды) в области человеко-ориентированных вопросов информационных технологий и журналистики данных, приглашенный преподаватель Технического университета Эйндховена. Со-основатель компании, занимающейся исследованиями и человеко-ориентированным проектированием в сфере мобильных технологий.

Introduction to User Experience Design

Targeted Audience: The course is intended for professionals and students with the background in computer science, social science or in general information and communication technology (ICT) related disciplines, who didn’t yet get a chance to learn the basics of user experience (UX) design. The course will give newcomers and first time attendees of the ProfsoUX conference suitable background information in the field of UX for making their conference experience more joyful and meaningful.

Course Contents: The point of departure for this course is the brief history of the user experience design (in the context of human computer interaction) discipline and the multidisciplinary nature of the field. This course will offer a brief introduction into both the underlying theories of user experience design and the practical application of these insights.

The first half of the course will discuss how concepts such as usability and utility may be defined and operationalised, and how the user centered design process can contribute to the achievement of optimal results from a usability and utility perspective. This second half of the course will provide a brief overview of the complete user experience design process (user research, design and prototyping, evaluation) and different methods/techniques (contextual inquiry, wire-framing, lowfi and hifi prototyping, expert evaluation, usability evaluations) required in each phase of the design process.

Instructor’s Background: Suleman Shahid is Assistant Professor of Human Aspects of Information Technology and Data Journalism at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. He is also a co-founder of a user experience company (a small close-knit mobile user experience and research applications design team) where he manages UX of products and services. He is also a visiting professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. Suleman has a PhD in Communication Sciences and Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) in User-System Interaction.
